Brief Synopsis:
Gene and Pat ride straight into an exciting mystery involving a beautiful hairdresser and a gang of burglars.

Detailed Synopsis:
Gene Autry and Pat Buttram are shot at by old prospector Thaddeus Trigg because he believes they are after his newly discovered gold mine. Thad’s wife Amelia stops her husband from shooting and invites the cowboys into their home. In reality, Thad and Gene are old friends, but Thad did not recognize Gene from a distance. Thad explains his reason for shooting at them and about the burglarizing bandits who have been terrorizing the town. Thad is reluctant to register his claim for fear that someone else will steal it, but Gene convinces him to draw a map and hide it, so that Amelia will be protected in case anything happens. Gene and Pat head to town to discuss the matter with the sheriff. Gene bumps into Kansas, an outlaw he had put away, and is immediately suspicious. Pat becomes enamored with the pretty hair salon owner, Corinne Sheldon. While Gene and the sheriff go over the list of those robbed, Pat has his hair and nails done by Corinne. She is actually behind the robberies because she finds out from her clients where their husbands keep their valuables. She then instructs her hired gunmen, Kansas and Hod, to carry out the burglaries. Amelia goes to the salon to discuss getting her hair and nails done and shows her gold nugget to Corinne, who immediately suggests visiting Amelia at home. Pat overhears this. Gene, meanwhile, has talked to the victims to find a common denominator and finds that Corinne always pops up. When Pat tells him about Amelia’s visit, Gene immediately saddles Champion and they ride out to the Triggs. There, they find Thad unconscious and the map to the gold mine stolen. After a chase and a fight, Gene and Pat round up Kansas and Hod, while Amelia captures Corinne.
