Calvary officer Gene Autry aids an Indian tribe, of which he is an honorary member, when they are blamed for a series of tomahawk murders. Nettie mistakenly believes Gene is a deserter when she sees him without his uniform. A picture she has accidentally taken reveals Hack in the act of trying to tomahawk Pat. To get the final evidence, the tomahawk, Gene gives himself up and is jailed while Pat has time to find the weapon in Hack's saddle roll. Gene escapes from jail by using Pat's flash powder.
