Gene, Pat, and a parson rid the town of Scorpion of a gambling ring and crooked politicians.

Detailed Synopsis:

Gene Autry and Pat Buttram sold a herd of cattle in Mexico and are on the way home when they stop to hear a parson preach a sermon from the back of a covered wagon just outside the lawless town of Scorpion. The gamblers and crooked politicians in Scorpion drove out the parson, and he is trying to raise enough money to build a church to fight the on their own ground. When Gene and Pat contribute a hatful of silver pesos and camp for the night, their troubles begin. Jaycee Cady, the chief gambler, sends out his bully boys who beat up and rob the parson and give Gene a bad time when he tries to help. With the parson's daughter, Esther, along to identify the hoodlums, Gene and Pat go to Scorpion to get back the stolen pesos. They recover the money, and, as a result, blow the lid off the gamblers' hold on the citizenry. The parson gathers his whole congregation, and Jaycee goes to jail. Gene, however, goes with him on a false charge of murder. There's a phony trial and a jailbreak by Jaycee. Gene and Pat escape and nab Jaycee and his gang in a tiny shack outside of town. With the circuit court on its way, law finally does come to Scorpion.
