Hollywood celebrated its 118th birthday on February 1st by dedicating the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Avenue as Gene Autry Square in recognition of the actor/singer/philanthropist's many contributions to Tinseltown.

Johnny Grant, Chairman of the Hollywood Historic Trust, hosted the ceremony. A total of four signs designate the intersection as Gene Autry Square. Mrs. Gene Autry, along with Johnny Grant and Councilmember Eric Garcetti, officially unveiled the first sign located on the northwest corner of Hollywood and Highland at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, February 1.

It was a beautiful, sunny, Southern California day and the ceremony drew a large crowd of friends, fans, and special guests. Foy Willing’s Riders of the Purple Sage entertained the crowd by performing Gene’s most popular songs.
