Autry National Center Monte Hale Tribute Case Installation

Monte Hale was the last of the silver screen's singing cowboys. However, he was much more than his onscreen persona. He was also a loving husband, a trusted friend, and a generous humanitarian.

The Autry National Center's Curatorial and Exhibits team has Monte Hale's case ready in the museum's lobby.

Kathe Cole secures the hanger for one of Monte's awards.

Exhibits Design team member Jorge Claustro sets up the custom made mount for Monte's hat.

Working from the top down, the team adds more of Monte's prized possessions to the case.

Monte's guitar receives special care and attention from Richard Moll, Chief Conservator for the Autry.

The gold necklaces must be secured safely and hung with precision by Jorge.

The case is coming together nicely with a variety of personal and professional items from Monte's home.

The plexiglass wall must be secured inside and out.

The banner reads:
IN MEMORY OF MONTE HALE
1919 – 2009

The museum's founders are once again side by side at the Autry.
