Carolina Moon
Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Radio Show
(March 2, 1947)

Gene Autry's performance of "Carolina Moon" from his March 2, 1947 "Melody Ranch" radio show is backed by Carl Cotner's Orchestra and has an unusual vocal accompaniment from the radio show's audience! "Melody Ranch" was performed and broadcast live so it was common to hear audience laughter and applause, but Gene very rarely did a sing-a-long with his in studio radio audience.

The song was well known to Gene's fans from his 1940 Republic Pictures movie "Carolina Moon."

At the beginning of the clip when Gene says "Thank you Mr. B." he is referring to his sidekick pal Smiley Burnette. At the end of the clip Johnny Bond compliments Gene on his performance and announcer Lou Crosby chats with Gene.
