The Official Website of Gene Autry, America's Favorite Singing Cowboy

Fun Autry Fact:

According to a 1948 Life magazine article, "if [Gene's records] were all shipped to one place, [they] would make up a freight train solid with Western songs and be more than a mile long."

I Sent a Letter to Santa
The Sergeant Gene Autry Radio Show
(November 22, 1942)

When Gene Autry went into the Army Air Forces in 1942 his popular radio show, Melody Ranch, became the Sgt. Gene Autry radio show. The program maintained the format of music, comedy, and action in a dramatic story but it was all done with a military theme. The November 22, 1942 broadcast from the Army Air Forces' recreation hall at Luke Field, near Phoenix, Arizona included Sgt. Autry's performance of the patriotic Christmas song "I Sent a Letter to Santa." This is the only performance of this song by Gene Autry.

This song is also known as I SENT A LETTER TO SANTA (WATCH OVER DADDY FOR ME).
