Montana Plains
from Call of the Canyon (1942)

Singing Cowboy Gene Autry and Sons of the Pioneers sing the Patsy Montana classic "Montana Plains" in a scene from the Republic Pictures film Call of the Canyon (1942). That's Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) and his little brother Tadpole (Joseph Strauch, Jr.) giving aid to injured Grantley B. Johnson (Thurston Hall) and Kit Carson (Ruth Terry) and her radio troupe trying to figure out what is going on. This all seems crazy unless you've seen the movie!

Sons of the Pioneers are in three Gene Autry films The Big Show (1936), The Old Corral (1936) and Call of the Canyon (1942). Roy Rogers – the singing cowboy most associated with Sons of the Pioneers – is part of the singing group in the 1936 films but not in Call of the Canyon.
