Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Radio Show
(October 8, 1949)


On the October 8, 1949 Melody Ranch radio show Johnny Bond askes, "Who's Rudolph?" Gene Autry answers that question with his debut radio performance of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Gene is backed by Carl Cotner's Orchestra.

The song quickly became a huge hit and "Rudolph" is Gene Autry's biggest selling record. From 1949 to 1955 Gene performed the song more than 19 times on his radio show.
