The California State Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles honored Gene during the summer of 1980 with a thirteen-week exhibit and film retrospective.

When the Gene Autry Rodeo rides into town, they do it with a song! Gene, Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette), Tadpole (Joseph Strauch, Jr.) and all the cowboys and cowgirls sing "The Man on the Flying Trapeze" in the Republic Pictures film Under Fiesta Stars (1941).
