The title and cover art of this release is misleading for Gene Autry fans until they read the starburst text, “And Gene Autry Western Adventures.” The first two tracks of this nostalgic collection are from Gene Autry’s children story records from Columbia Records. Gene Autry at the Rodeo, originally released in 1950, tells the tale of Gene wrestling cattle, bucking broncos, and of course, singing at the Rodeo. Features a supporting cast, the Cass County Boys, and musical arrangements by Carl Cotner. Champion (The Horse No Man Could Ride), originally released in 1949, is the story of Champion, jam-packed with action and western color. Boys (and lots of girls, too) from seven to eleven will love this story about their cowboy hero, Gene Autry, and his famous horse. The other 11 tracks are not by Gene, but you might enjoy the songs and adventures about a fellow "born on a mountain top in Tennessee."
