Brief Synopsis:
Gene finds himself battling some very lifelike ghosts when he gets involved with an archaeologist and a clever outlaw.
Detailed Synopsis:
Pat Buttram feels uneasy accompanying Gene Autry into Indian territory that is heavy with ghostly legend and superstition and is petrified when he sees one of the supposed Spanish ghosts in armor. They find an isolated shack occupied by archaeologist Professor Donald Markham and his thirteen-year-old sister Wilma, who has also seen ghosts. Markham is interested in gathering the ancient armor that's rumored to be hidden somewhere in the territory. Clever outlaw Brief Williams and his gang have cashed in on the old legend by using arrows and armor discovered in their hideout to hold up banks and rob payrolls. Finding Gene on their trail, they use the same scare campaign, but it doesn't work. During a hand-to-hand battle, Gene takes a complete set of the armor from one of the bandits. In a clever ruse, Pat wears the armor, Markham provides the Spanish-speaking voice, and together they pretend to be one of the ghosts. The outlaws are thrown off guard long enough for Gene, Pat, and the professor to round up the renegades and to free Wilma, who had unexpectedly wandered into the outlaw camp.
