Brief Synopsis:

Gene is on the trail of an arms-smuggling gang, following them to the Mexican border where he joins with a law-enforcement officer to stop the gang’s crooked operations.

Detailed Synopsis:

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Gene Autry and Mexican patrol captain Fernando learn that Gregorio, an Apache renegade, is attempting to stir up a revolution below the border with guns smuggled from the Arizona territory. The captain's job is to trap Gregorio, and Gene's job is to put any Americans involved in the conspiracy on trial. Meanwhile, teamster Pat Buttram is hired to haul a mission bell across the border from Bisbee to San Angelo. Neither Pat nor the mission's kindly old Padre is aware that their wagon is also hauling an illegal shipment of Winchester rifles. Gene has an encounter with Gregorio on the Arizona side, but is forced to abandon official pursuit when the renegade crosses the border. However, Capitan Fernando, unable to follow Gregorio to Arizona, grants Gene permission to cross "unofficially." Below the border, Gene discovers the rifles hidden in Pat's wagon and sets a trap that will not only catch Gregorio, but the men who sold him the illegal guns. When the trail leads back to the Arizona side, Gene returns Fernando's courtesy by now allowing him to cross the border "unofficially." Together, Gene and Capitan Fernando capture Gregorio and the American criminals involved.
