Detailed Synopsis:
Wealthy woman-hater Frank Graham learns his long-estranged daughter is dead and that he has a grandson named Frank Scott. Graham sends for the boy, planning to make him his heir. This is a bitter blow to Paul Greeley, Graham's nephew, who had figured on inheriting the estate. He is heavily in debt to the unscrupulous gambler Duke Ferris. Graham asks foreman Gene Autry and Pat Buttram to meet the stage bringing Frank. They arrive just in time to chase away two of Duke's henchmen, who have been ordered to murder the child so that Paul can be the heir. Much to Gene's astonishment, Frank turns out to be a girl, Frankie. After reconciling the female-hating Graham to that fact, Gene leaves to find the would-be murderers. Suspicious of Paul, Gene follows him to Duke's headquarters in town. Paul, innocent of any plotting against Frankie, is outraged at the murder attempt and threatens to expose Duke, whereupon Duke makes Paul his prisoner. Duke then sets out with one of his henchmen to kill Frankie. Gene rescues Paul, rides after Duke, and arrives in time to save Frankie and Pat from certain death.
