Detailed Synopsis:
On the way to Granger, Gene Autry and Pat Buttram rescue a girl being pursued by three men. She takes them to a protected valley, but is evasive, only giving her name as Tonia Castelar. Later in town, Gene and Pat discuss the reward for the capture of the outlaw El Avengador. They again meet Tonia's three pursuers and engage in a fight. The sheriff arrests Gene and Pat for the fight and learns that Gene is after El Avengador. Frank Blake, the tax collector, asks them to guard the stagecoach the next morning, but Gene is suspicious of him and refuses. Gene sends Pat back to the valley with Tonia and the gang, while he and the sheriff trail the coach. It is attacked and Blake killed. Gene sends the sheriff back for a posse and heads for the secret valley. Plotting to capture El Avengador, he learns that the bandit chief is Tonia Castelar. Pat is sympathetic towards Tonia and argues against Gene arresting her. This conversation is overheard, and they are both captured. Tonia agrees to let them go just as Wade Morgan and his men attack. The timely arrival of the sheriff and his posse turns the tied of battle and the heavies are captured or killed. Morgan is proved to be behind the scheme to get Tonia, and a government pardon is promised to the girl outlaw and her followers.
