Synopsis:
Gene Autry leads a group of cattlemen in rebellion when the crooked agent of the packing company tries to cheat them. Added to the mix is an attractive young career woman whose future depends upon the packing company's radio sponsorship for a Western program she made up on the spot! When the eccentric owner of the company journeys West incognito, things get even more exciting. Singing cowboys, Tadpole and Smiley, stampeding cattle and a dynamited tunnel all lead to a thrilling Western adventure.

- Excerpts from the August 23, 1942 The Doublemint Show Radio Show starring Sergeant Gene Autry broadcast from Hollywood, California. In August of 1942 when CALL OF THE CANYON was released, Gene Autry was no longer representing Doublemint Gum on the Melody Ranch radio show because a month earlier he enlisted in the military and became Sergeant Gene Autry. At this time, Sgt. Autry's appearance on the radio was under the supervision of the Army Air Forces and Gene continued to bring his songs and thrilling stories of the exploits of the brave men of the Army Air Forces.
