The Texas influence across America is found in food (Tex Mex, Chili), clothing (cowboy hats and boots), energy (oil), the White House (George W. Bush), TV and movies (Dallas, The Alamo) and the music of Gene Autry. He was born in Tioga, Texas, and this is reflected in his work. Goin' Back to Texas, a collection of classic Texas songs, offers a retrospective of his acclaimed musical career.

This is the first collection ever to feature masters from all facets of his career, including Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Radio Show, his Columbia Records recordings, feature films, and television shows. It also includes rare tracks, such as "Beautiful Texas" and "Sleepy Rio Grande," as well as traditional Texas favorites such as "Deep In The Heart of Texas" and "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Many of the tracks also feature commentary by Gene. The masters used for this package are from Gene Autry's personal archives and have been fully restored and digitally re-mastered. Gene Autry was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1969 and is the only entertainer to have five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one each for radio, records, movies, live personal appearances, and television.
