Starr-Gennett Foundation 2009 Music Festival
September 11-12 in Richmond, Indiana
Posted September 1, 2009
Gene Autry fans in Indiana may want to visit Richmond, IN on September 11th and 12th for the Starr-Gennett Foundation 2009 Music Festival. Gene Autry will be inducted into the Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame. Author Holly George-Warren will have talks about Gene's connection to Starr-Gennett and book signings. In addition there will be a Don Edwards concert, and you can count on him to sing a Gene Autry song or two!
Markers, like Gene Autry's pictured here, are three-dimensional, cast bronze and colored tile mosaic emblems in the form of 78 rpm phonograph records. Each medallion features the classic Gennett label design and an artistic mosaic rendering of the represented musician. A smaller, bronze plaque is installed next to each record to recognize the accomplishments of the inductee(s). The Foundation estimates the Walk of Fame eventually will contain up to 80 markers.
Below is the Starr-Gannett Foundation's press release on this special event.
