Gene Autry's Studio City Home For Sale
Updated November 10, 2010

The original listing price of Gene Autry's home was recently reduced by one million dollars to open the property to a wider range of estate home buyers in the Los Angeles area. The Flying A Estate, close to 8,000 square feet, was built in 1948 by the Singing Cowboy himself on 3.68 acres in Fryman Canyon, Studio City Hills. It remained his home for the last fifty years of his life and is rich in historic significance. Mrs. Autry hopes that just the right family will soon discover it.

In Gene Autry's later years, he owned and lived in two California homes - one in Studio City and one in Palm Springs. After much thought and consideration, Mrs. Autry has decided to reside in the desert. She has many happy memories of both houses but feels the time is right for a new family to enjoy the Studio City home.

Several fans have asked why Mrs. Autry is not turning the house into a museum. Because the Studio City house is in a private residential area, it would be difficult to run it as a museum with parking, staff, and visitors disrupting the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. Gene Autry enjoyed his Studio City home for 50 years. It is now time for a new family to do the same.
